The Whitehead Institute is a world-renowned non-profit research institution dedicated to improving human health through basic biomedical research. Since 2019, Warbler Creative has had the pleasure of creating various graphics for Whitehead Institute. The longest running project is a weekly poster for the Whitehead Forum series, where each week a different scientist presents their current research to Whitehead’s community. These posters are meant to give a glimpse of the research in an exciting illustration, while remaining a consistent series.

Warbler Creative also often creates scientific figures and graphical abstracts for novel research, to help convey the complex information in a visual way. These figures have been published in numerous scientific journals including Cancer Cell, Developmental Cell, Nature Reviews Cancer, Nature Reviews Neuroscience, and Nature Communications. Scientific journals Cell Genomics and Genome Research have also published Warbler Creative’s work on their covers, via submission by Whitehead Institute researchers.

Warbler Creative has also designed a few logos for Whitehead Institute projects. One for open-source software for mass-spectrometry data processing (MZmine 3), and another software for streamlined de novo transcriptome assembly and annotation (transXpress).

In every instance, Caitlin is able to absorb scientific summaries that were rarely adjusted for laypeople and quickly translate it not only into an easily digestible idea, but also an illustration that anyone could understand. She is incredibly professional throughout the process, and everyone who worked with her was so happy to do so. Researchers from Harvard, Johns Hopkins, MIT, and Columbia have all requested to continue using her illustrations in their talks.

I have nothing but the highest respect and recommendation for Caitlin’s work, and have been so lucky to work with her. I recommend her to any scientist looking for illustration assistance.
